Easy Instant Pot Hamburger Stroganoff

  • Pressure Cooker


  • ~2 lbs Ground Hamburger
  • 16 oz Rotini Pasta
  • 1 quart Chicken Broth 4 cups
  • 1 10 oz Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1/2 cup Sour Cream
  • 1 Yellow Onion chopped or sliced
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Granulated Garlic or Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper


  • Medium chop yellow onion
  • Press Sauté on the Instant Pot
  • Once the pot is 'HOT' add 2 Tbsp olive oil and drop in the ground hamburger
  • Using a flat spatula, chop, stir and break up the hamburger into smaller pieces
  • Sauté for 5 minutes, add the chopped onions, and stir the onions into the ground hamburger scraping the pot bottom clean
  • Let sit on sauté for another 5 minutes and then cancel sauté
  • Use an Instant Pot slow cooker lid to hold the browned hamburger and onions in the pot as you drain the fat into an empty can or piece of aluminum foil pressed into your kitchen sink drain
  • Add the quart of chicken broth, salt, pepper, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce to the instant pot stirring all ingredients together
  • Add the pasta and push into the liquid
  • Put the Instant Pot lid on and close the pressure release valve
  • Pressure cook for 4 minutes and release pressure valve when the time is finished
  • Stir in sour cream and cream of mushroom soup
  • Cancel pressure cook and press sauté
  • Let simmer for 10 minutes stirring every couple of minutes scraping the pot bottom clean
  • Cancel sauté and plate your delicious hamburger stroganoff
  • Enjoy with any vegetables or salad
